Uganda Update

Yes!! The internet has been spotty all day and my laptop hasn't been able to connect to the internet until now. After traveling for seventeen hours, Anna and I finally arrived at the Bethesda Medical Center at one in the morning. We were greeted by Dr. Livingstone and Dr. Luke Lim's nephew, John (who is visiting in Uganda for 6 months). It's currently the rainy season in life so it isn't too hot or too cold right now (I would say around 80 degrees?). The noise level reminds me a bit of Seoul. Although Kampala looks nothing like Seoul, you constantly hear street noise from cars and motorcycles on the street. The first thing I noticed was that they drive on the left side of the road here like they do in England. I went to the fruit market with Missionary Grace to buy some fruits and I learned that crossing the street is actually really scary. You know the chicken game where the chicken dodges cars to get to the other side. Except instead of a chicken crossing the street, it's you. Mangoes and avocados are a lot cheaper here so I think I'll be eating a lot of them in the next few months.

We still don't really know what we're doing at the hospital or in the ministry (I think teaching CBF? To the CBF Teachers - any advices?) but I'm excited to see what God has in store! Also I haven't spoken this much Korean since the last time I visited Korea.

I'm also so thankful for everyone who has been supporting us through prayer!! Before leaving, I just gave a message on the importance of the unity of the body of Christ. It's amazing being part of the body of Christ and experiencing the benefits from it.

Mother's Day

I'm so thankful for all the mothers at our church - how they continually serve and love others. I have much to learn from them! I was looking through my old facebook pictures, and I realized that I haven't taken many picture or uploaded any pictures in a while. I don't even know how I took so many pictures in high school. I guess I had a lot more free time, haha. But I am really glad with how the pictures turned out!

Community

As many of you know, I love to take pictures - of nature, people, etc. So it was strange for me to realize today that more than just the act of taking pictures, I love the people. (It sounds kind of weird when I phrase it like this. But my point is that I realized taking pictures of people that I know is a lot easier for me than just taking pictures of strangers.) In the last year, I have had more opportunities to attend events solely as a photographer rather than being part of it. To be honest, it can get really boring without anyone to talk to. To my next point, I believe that God created people to live in communities. While studying Ephesians 4, I learned the importance of unity within the body of Christ as well as in the context of marriage. In preparing for writing the youth group message, I listened to the message from the Breakaway Ministry YDJ based this semester on. One thing that stuck out to me the most was that in a community, we need each other. God created us to be different, but he also created all of us in his own image (btw did you know university is a combination of the words unity and diversity - diversity in unity). Therefore we may not "click" with every single person at church, but we are to "bear with one another in love." In a community, there are people in various stages and ages in life - some are wiser, some are stronger, etc. Yet no matter what age we are - whether 20 or 60, as long as we are on earth, we are still spiritually growing. We are to work together, learn from one other, encourage one another, and rebuke when necessary. But most importantly, we are to point each other to Jesus.

Here are some cute pictures from last Sunday. (:
